Amidst Russia’s aggressive actions and China’s aspirations to become the leading space power by the mid-21st century, a high-ranking US military official has expressed the necessity for the United States to prepare for a potential conflict in outer space.

Brigadier General Jesse Morehouse, the deputy director of strategy, plans, and policy at US Space Command, attended the Space Operations Summit 2023 conference in London last week, where he discussed the combined space capabilities of Russia and China.

During a press briefing at the US embassy, Brig. Gen. Morehouse emphasized that the United States has been compelled to be ready for any eventuality and stated that America is prepared to engage in space warfare if circumstances demand it, the Independent reported.

This statement underlines the seriousness with which the US military views the evolving strategic landscape in space and the need to protect American interests and security in this domain.
