Venice police investigating after famed Grand Canal turns bright green

An investigation is underway in Venice as the local police seek to identify the origin of a luminous green liquid patch that emerged on Sunday in the renowned Grand Canal.

Luca Zaia, the governor of the Veneto region, shared a photograph capturing the green substance dispersing in the water near the iconic Rialto Bridge, NBC News reported.

Initially reported by residents, the distinctive green patch attracted attention and garnered numerous images on social media platforms.

The affected area is situated along a quay adorned with restaurants. To ascertain accountability, officials have requested the police to conduct a thorough investigation.

Simultaneously, environmental authorities are conducting tests on the water to assess any potential impacts.
