On Tuesday, officials reported that following the partial collapse of an apartment building in Iowa, there are still five individuals whose whereabouts are unknown, with the possibility that two of them might still be trapped inside the structure.

Davenport Mayor Mike Matson conveyed the heartbreaking news that authorities have met with the families of the two individuals who are believed to be inside the building, emphasizing the gravity of the situation.

City officials conducted a search on Tuesday afternoon but did not detect any signs of human activity, ABC News reported.

However, several animals were successfully rescued during the operation and were subsequently handed over to the Scott County Humane Society.

In an update released on Tuesday afternoon, the city of Davenport acknowledged that the stability of the building is deteriorating.

As operational planning progresses, the city remains steadfast in prioritizing the recovery of any individuals who are still unaccounted for.
