President Joe Biden humorously remarked that he was caught off guard on Thursday when he stumbled and fell onstage during the U.S. Air Force Academy graduation, but thankfully, he was unharmed.

While interacting with the graduates in Colorado Springs, Colorado, at the forefront of the stage through salutes and handshakes, Biden turned to make his way back to his seat but had a misstep.

An Air Force officer and two members of his U.S. Secret Service detail promptly assisted him in getting back up, the Associated Press reported.

Witnesses, including some individuals from the official delegation present on stage, expressed concern as they observed the incident.

However, Biden, who holds the distinction of being the oldest president in U.S. history at the age of 80, returned to his seat to witness the remainder of the ceremony.

Upon his return to the White House later that evening, President Biden greeted reporters with a smile and lightheartedly remarked, “I got sandbagged.”

He then playfully pretended to jog into the residence. Notably, there were two small black sandbags on stage that were supporting the teleprompter used by Biden and other speakers during the graduation.
