According to a statement made on Wednesday by GOP Representative James Comer of Kentucky, who serves as the chairman of the House Oversight and Accountability Committee, FBI Director Christopher Wray has confirmed the existence of an unclassified record that allegedly contains information about a bribery scheme involving former Vice President Joe Biden and a foreign national.
In a letter addressed to Wray and Attorney General Merrick Garland in early May, Comer and Senate Judiciary Ranking Member Chuck Grassley stated that the FBI record provides a detailed description of how the alleged criminal scheme was executed and its purpose.
They also expressed their belief that the document describes a criminal scheme where money was exchanged for policy decisions, involving then-Vice President Biden and a foreign national, CBS News reported.
In their statement on Wednesday, Comer and Grassley mentioned that the record includes serious and specific allegations that implicate the current President of the United States.
However, they did not present additional evidence to substantiate this claim. According to Comer, Wray offered lawmakers the opportunity to view the record at FBI headquarters during a phone call on Wednesday.
Comer had issued a subpoena earlier this month following information provided by a whistleblower to GOP lawmakers regarding an alleged bribery scheme involving Mr. Biden.
