According to two sources familiar with the situation, Steve Bannon, a former White House official under the Trump administration, has been issued a subpoena by a federal grand jury in Washington, D.C.

The subpoena is related to the investigation led by special counsel Jack Smith, which focuses on the events of January 6 and former President Donald Trump’s attempts to retain his position in office.

The sources reveal that the subpoena, requesting both documents and testimony, was issued in late May, NBC News reported.

It’s important to note that the grand jury investigating Trump’s actions surrounding the January 6 events and his involvement in efforts to disrupt the peaceful transfer of power is distinct from the grand jury in Miami, which recently heard testimony regarding Trump’s handling of classified documents.

Both the spokesman for the special counsel and Steve Bannon’s attorney, Harlan Protass, declined to provide comments on the matter.
