Multiple sources familiar with the case have revealed that federal prosecutors have officially informed Donald Trump that he is a target of criminal investigation.

They further indicated that an indictment against the former president is likely to be imminent in connection with alleged mishandling of classified documents, Just The News has reported.

Despite this development, the Justice Department has declined to delay the filing of charges to allow for an investigation into allegations of witness tampering made by Trump’s legal team.

These insiders, who provided information to Just the News, disclosed that the DOJ’s refusal to postpone the indictment is related to claims that a senior prosecutor involved in the case attempted to influence a crucial witness by discussing a potential federal judgeship with the witness’s lawyer.

The allegation concerning this matter is presently under review in a confidential case before Chief U.S. District Judge James E. Boasberg. Judge Boasberg oversees the federal court in Washington, D.C., along with the grand juries that convene there.

According to these sources, Special Counsel Jack Smith has been diligently preparing a historic federal indictment against the 45th president. It is anticipated that this indictment could be presented to a federal grand jury as early as this week.

Notably, Trump already faces an indictment in a Manhattan court on charges of falsifying business expenses to conceal payments made to a porn star, and he has entered a plea of not guilty in that case.

The former president has consistently portrayed both cases as part of a larger “witch hunt” and a biased system of justice aimed at derailing his potential 2024 presidential candidacy, as reported by Just The News.

Most recently, Trump has argued that Special Counsel Jack Smith is biased and that the federal case against him is being treated differently from the one involving President Joe Biden.

Biden, too, was found to possess classified documents from his time as vice president.
