OpenAI has decided to shut down GIPPR AI, an implementation of the ChatGPT AI chatbot developed to address concerns about bias in the original version.

The project was part of TUSK, a conservative-created web browser and search engine aimed at providing an alternative to platforms that are perceived as prone to censorship, such as Google and DuckDuckGo.

GIPPR AI, named in reference to former Republican President Ronald Reagan’s nickname “The Gipper,” aimed to provide a conservative perspective, Breitbart News reported.

In an announcement on their website, Tusk, the conservative tech company, disclosed that they can no longer utilize ChatGPT to power their chatbot.

According to Tusk, OpenAI cited “safety” as the reason for suspending the service, employing a rationale often employed by major tech companies.
