Republicans are questioning the timing of gaining access to an FBI document alleging President Joe Biden’s involvement in a bribery scheme, as it coincided with former President Donald Trump’s indictment by Special Counsel Jack Smith, Breitbart News has reported.
Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL), a prominent Trump ally, expressed skepticism about the coincidence, stating in a tweet, “Imagine being naive enough to believe that the Biden Bribe evidence and Trump indictment happening the same day was a coincidence.”
The House Oversight Committee’s Republican members were finally granted access to the document, which revealed that an FBI informant had claimed Biden and his son Hunter received $5 million each in connection with Biden’s alleged pressure on Ukraine to dismiss its then-chief prosecutor, Viktor Shokin.
Shokin was conducting an investigation into the owner of Burisma, a company that had Hunter Biden serving on its board.
The FBI made the document available to Republicans after Chairman James Comer of the House Oversight Committee scheduled a vote to hold FBI Director Christopher Wray in contempt of Congress for not releasing the document earlier.
The timing of the document’s release, just hours before news of Trump’s indictment emerged, raised suspicions among Republicans.
