According to the police, a possible shootout occurred at a residence in Annapolis, Maryland, during a graduation party on Sunday night, resulting in three fatalities and three individuals sustaining injuries.
During an evening news conference, Annapolis Police Chief Edward C. Jackson announced that a person of interest had been taken into custody, and authorities had potentially recovered up to two firearms.
The current conditions of the injured individuals have not been disclosed, although one of them was transported to the R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center at the University of Maryland, Baltimore, located approximately 30 miles north of Annapolis, as stated in a release by the Annapolis police.
The deceased victims, aged between their early 20s and around 50, were discovered outside the residence, Chief Jackson confirmed, NBC News reported.
The violence, which took place at 8 p.m., appeared to involve a shooting exchange between two individuals, Chief Jackson explained, describing it as an “interpersonal dispute.”
Although police were informed that a graduation party was occurring, they are still in the process of verifying the details.
The motive behind the incident remains unknown, but the police chief emphasized that the shooting was not a random act.
