Nicola Sturgeon, the former leader of Scotland’s governing Scottish Nationalist Party, was apprehended on Sunday under accusations of financial impropriety within the party.

Sturgeon is the most recent prominent member of the SNP to face questioning regarding allegations that £600,000 ($750,000) designated for campaigning in favor of Scottish independence had been redirected elsewhere, NBC News reports.

Police Scotland issued a statement confirming the arrest of a 52-year-old woman, connecting her as a suspect in the ongoing investigation into the financing and monetary affairs of the Scottish National Party. The woman is currently being interrogated by detectives from Police Scotland.

A spokesperson from the police later verified to NBC News that Nicola Sturgeon had indeed been arrested, providing a date of birth that matched that of the former first minister.

In a separate statement, a representative for Sturgeon acknowledged the arrest but clarified that she has not been charged with any crime.
