Nottingham police say man fatally stabbed 3, stole van and ran down 3 more in English city

In a shocking incident that unfolded early Tuesday morning in Nottingham, England, a knife-wielding attacker stabbed two college students to death on the city streets.

Subsequently, the assailant fatally stabbed a middle-aged man, commandeered his van, and callously ran over three pedestrians in a shocking rampage, according to police reports.

A 31-year-old man has been apprehended by the Nottinghamshire Police force on suspicion of murder, the Associated Press has reported.

Investigations suggest that the attacker acted alone, and detectives are collaborating with counterterrorism officers to ascertain the motive behind the tragic events.

Chief Constable Kate Meynell expressed the profound horror and sadness surrounding the incident, stating, “This is a horrific and tragic incident which has claimed the lives of three people.”

One of the victims struck in the hit-and-run remains in critical condition and has been hospitalized.

Among the deceased are two 19-year-old students from the University of Nottingham, a devastating loss that has deeply impacted the university community.

Vice Chancellor Shearer West conveyed her profound shock and sorrow, stating, “All of us at Nottingham are deeply shocked and saddened by the deaths of two of our students.”
