On Wednesday, the House of Representatives approved legislation aimed at preventing the Department of Energy from enforcing stringent energy conservation regulations on gas stoves.

The bill, known as the Save Our Gas Stoves Act, received a vote of 249-181.

All Republicans supported the bill, and they were joined by 29 Democrats, indicating a significant number of President Biden’s fellow party members disagree with the actions taken by the Energy Department.

This vote was prompted by a recent rule issued by the Department of Energy, which aimed to enhance energy efficiency standards for gas stoves, Fox News reported.

Representative Debbie Lesko, a Republican from Arizona and the bill’s sponsor, argued that the department initially concluded that 96% of currently available gas stoves would fail to meet the new standard.

She further claimed that the department subsequently introduced new data in an attempt to downplay the severity of the standard.
