20 shot at Illinois shopping mall Juneteenth celebration

Over the holiday weekend, a series of shootings caused significant violence across the country, resulting in the tragic loss of five lives and leaving at least 42 individuals injured.

During a Juneteenth celebration in a suburban Illinois town, a shooting occurred outside a shopping center, claiming the life of one person, the Daily Mail has reported.

The incident took place around 12:30 a.m. on Route 83 near Honeysuckle Lane in Willowbrook, Illinois.

Battalion Chief Joe Ostrander of the Tri-State Fire Protection District, speaking to WLS, revealed that a massive crowd of over 300 people had gathered for the Juneteenth celebration, which unfortunately turned violent.

Subsequent to the incident, the DuPage County Sheriff’s Office provided an update on Sunday morning, stating that a total of 20 people had been shot, with one person losing their life.

Among the injured, at least one individual is in critical condition, while the others sustained “graze wounds.”
