In an unfortunate incident at Central Park, a pit bull was tragically stabbed to death by an assailant wielding a switchblade during a dispute with the dog’s owner, according to the police.

The attacker, who had three unleashed dogs in his care, crossed paths with Eli, a German Shepherd pit bull mix, the New York Daily News reported.

Eli was being walked by his owner, a 43-year-old woman, accompanied by a 51-year-old man. The couple was also walking a chihuahua at the time, near E. 106th St. and East Drive, around 8:30 p.m. on Saturday, as reported by the police.

An argument broke out, and the assailant’s unleashed dogs began attacking both Eli and the chihuahua, as per the authorities.

In an attempt to separate the animals, the woman intervened, but the individual in charge of the unleashed dogs drew out a switchblade and fatally stabbed Eli, causing grave injuries to the dog.

The assailant fled the scene and remains at large, as he has not been apprehended by the authorities.
