New research suggests that the job of prominent music producers and talent show judges, such as Simon Cowell, may be at risk as a robot could potentially take over their roles.
Scientists have harnessed the power of artificial intelligence to identify hit pop songs with an impressive accuracy rate of 97 percent.
This computer system has the potential to make TV talent show judges redundant by replicating their skills at a significantly lower cost, Study Finds reports.
The AI system, built upon a neural network, can also enhance the efficiency of streaming services.
Researchers from California have indicated that the system is so versatile that it can be applied to films and TV shows as well.
Paul Zak, a professor at Claremont Graduate University and the senior author of the study, stated, “By applying machine learning to neurophysiologic data, we were able to nearly perfectly identify hit songs.”
“The fact that the neural activity of 33 individuals can predict whether millions of others will listen to new songs is truly remarkable. No other study has achieved this level of accuracy before,” he said.
