Large fire in Paris following suspected gas explosion

A major gas explosion occurred in the heart of Paris, resulting in injuries to at least 29 individuals and prompting the immediate response of numerous firefighters on Wednesday afternoon.

The incident, which took place near Rue Saint Jacques in the fifth arrondissement of the city, drew a staggering force of 270 firefighters who swiftly arrived at the scene, as reported by CNN.

According to Paris police chief Laurent Nunez, the fire has now been successfully contained.

Authorities informed CNN that four individuals suffered critical injuries as a consequence of the explosion. Disturbing video footage captured at the location reveals a partial collapse of the building engulfed in flames.

As a safety precaution, local residents were prevented from returning to their homes in the surrounding streets by the authorities.
