McCarthy discourages GOP conference from backing Biden impeachment resolution

House Speaker Kevin McCarthy has instructed his fellow members to oppose the resolution put forth by Representative Lauren Boebert, a Republican from Colorado, which aims to impeach President Joe Biden.

The resolution is scheduled to be presented on the House floor later this week.

McCarthy expressed his belief that it would be unfair to the American public to proceed with a floor vote on the resolution without thoroughly presenting the case and arguments supporting it, ABC News reported.

He suggested that bringing the resolution to the House floor at this particular time could potentially undermine the ongoing investigations conducted by the GOP.

As Boebert serves as a member of the influential House Oversight Committee, McCarthy stated that she should utilize that committee to address matters concerning the Biden administration.

Given the committee’s existing investigations, McCarthy implied that Boebert’s efforts would be better suited for that platform.
