On Thursday, according to officials appointed by Russia in both regions, Ukrainian forces launched a missile attack on a bridge that connects Ukraine’s Kherson region with Crimea.

The Chongar bridge, which links the Russian-held parts of Kherson with the Crimean peninsula, was targeted in the attack. Officials confirmed that traffic was redirected to an alternative route.

Russia’s Investigative Committee stated that Ukrainian forces had fired four missiles at the bridge, DW has reported.

Vladimir Saldo, the Russia-appointed governor of Kherson, suggested that the bridge had likely been struck by Storm Shadow missiles, resulting in damage to the roadway.

He also mentioned that there were no reported casualties.

Sergey Aksenov, the governor of Crimea, stated that experts were assessing the site to determine when traffic could resume on the bridge.
