
Tragedy struck in Martin County, Indiana, as a tornado tore down a house, claiming the life of one person, amidst a storm front that brought devastation to the Midwest and the South on Sunday.
Cameron Wolf, the director of Martin County Emergency Management, confirmed the fatality and mentioned that the injured partner of the victim was transported to a hospital by air ambulance.
The current condition of the injured individual remains unknown. Wolf characterized the tornado damage as relatively localized, affecting a specific area, NBC News reported.
In other areas, numerous homes sustained damage, roadways were obstructed by fallen tree limbs and debris, and there were reports of significant hail as the same storm front passed through southern and central Indiana and neighboring states.
According to the National Weather Service, multiple tornadoes were reported on Sunday afternoon in central Indiana.
Forecasters believe that separate vortexes caused structural damage in Greenwood, Bargersville, and other locations.
