In response to the brutal killing of 46 women prisoners by street gangs, the government of Honduras has declared a stern crackdown on these gangs.
The country’s armed forces have launched “Operation Faith and Hope” with the aim of “restoring control over the prisons.”
As part of this operation, the military police have assumed control of Honduran prisons, and photos have been shared on social media showing naked inmates sitting in rows with their legs apart during a raid conducted to confiscate contraband, the Daily Star reported.
The army announced on Twitter that similar operations will be carried out in other correctional facilities.
The primary objective of this initiative is to impede the influx of drugs and weapons into prisons and put an end to the heinous acts of gang-related violence.
By taking these measures, Honduras seeks to halt the activities of brutal gang members and ensure safer prison environments.
