Amtrak train with 198 passengers derails after hitting truck on tracks in Southern California

According to Ventura County Fire Department Captain Brian McGrath, three out of the seven cars of the train derailed after the collision in Moorpark.

A total of fourteen individuals on the train sustained minor injuries and were transported to hospitals. The truck driver involved in the incident was taken to a trauma center due to a head injury, as stated by McGrath.

The wreckage of the Ventura County Public Works truck was scattered around the derailed train cars. Initially, McGrath mentioned that it was believed the truck driver had exited the vehicle prior to the crash, the San Francisco Gate reported.

However, he later clarified that the circumstances leading up to the accident were unknown.

“Currently, there has been no communication with the driver, so the entire situation is still under investigation,” he stated.
