On Wednesday morning, the man accused of committing a triple homicide in a west valley apartment appeared in court.
Identified as Spencer McDonald, a 30-year-old individual, he is facing three charges of murder and one count of attempted murder, Fox 5 Vegas reported.
Currently, McDonald is being held without bond. The incident came to the attention of the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department when they received a distress call at around 9:03 a.m. on Tuesday.
The report described a man with a head injury claiming to have been attacked in the vicinity of the 9100 block of West Flamingo Road, near El Capitan.
Law enforcement officers swiftly responded to the scene near the leasing office at the Rancho De Montana apartments, where a stabbing had been reported.
A maintenance worker was found with head injuries. The suspect attempted to flee by running through the leasing office and towards Flamingo Road but was apprehended by the pursuing officers.
During the incident, the suspect was reported to have wielded a sledgehammer-like weapon, as conveyed by Lt. Jason Johansson during a briefing on Tuesday.
Lt. Johansson revealed that prior to the incident, the apartment’s leasing office had requested a welfare check, prompting maintenance to visit the premises.
The reason behind the welfare check, however, remained unclear at the time. Subsequently, the suspect launched an attack on the maintenance workers, leading to the death of one worker, a man in his 40s, while the other worker managed to escape unharmed.
Further investigation linked the suspect to an apartment within the complex. Upon entering the apartment, law enforcement officers discovered the lifeless bodies of a woman and two men.
