Republican Sen. Lindsey Graham faced a chorus of boos as he campaigned for former President Donald Trump at a rally in his home state of South Carolina on Saturday.

Upon leaving the stage, supporters gave him a thumbs down, expressing their disapproval.

Addressing the crowd of Trump supporters in Pickens, South Carolina, Graham emphasized the importance of unity, stating that winning elections involves bringing together people who may not always agree but can find common ground on crucial matters, Fox News reported.

However, his remarks were met with soft booing from many attendees. Undeterred, Graham continued, reiterating that Trump would be the Republican Party’s nominee and warning of the potential consequences if the opposing party were to win in 2024.

As he concluded his speech, Graham walked to the left side of the stage, departing amidst a dissatisfied crowd of Trump supporters who booed him and gave him a thumbs down.

The senator, who spoke for about five minutes, also faced boos when he initially took the stage.

Despite the negative reception, Graham attempted to engage with the audience, highlighting the accomplishments of Pickens County and invoking the county’s strong sense of patriotism.

However, the booing persisted, drowning out some of his words, as reported by Fox News.

Following Graham’s remarks, Trump took the stage and tried to rally support for the senator, assuring his supporters that they would appreciate him.

Nevertheless, the crowd continued to express discontent with Graham, prompting Trump to acknowledge the divided response.

Trump mentioned Graham again later in the rally, which resulted in another round of boos from the audience. In response, Trump playfully remarked that he would need to work on winning over those individuals.

He also offered to campaign for Graham during his re-election.

Graham, who has served as South Carolina’s senator since 2003, has faced criticism from Trump supporters in recent years due to his positions on various issues.
