According to an official familiar with the investigation, a formal laboratory test has confirmed that the white substance discovered at the White House on Sunday is cocaine.

A U.S. Secret Service official reported that the substance was found in a small, zippered bag in a highly frequented area of the West Wing, leading to a brief evacuation on Sunday evening.

The duration of time the bag had been present in the White House remains unclear, NBC News reported.

Due to the lack of a precise timeline and the numerous individuals who pass through the area where the cocaine was found, it may prove challenging to identify the person responsible for the substance, as per a source knowledgeable about the investigation cited by NBC News on Tuesday.

The Secret Service is currently conducting the investigation, which involves reviewing surveillance cameras and entrance logs, according to another source familiar with the inquiry.

The cocaine was discovered by officers during their routine patrols of the White House, as stated by a Secret Service official.

As reported by a source familiar with the investigation on Tuesday, the substance initially tested positive for cocaine in a preliminary field test, and the formal laboratory test has now confirmed this result.

It is worth noting that President Joe Biden was at Camp David, not the White House, at the time when the cocaine was found.
