In Cleveland, an individual armed with a gun opened fire on a crowd of people during the early hours of Sunday, resulting in the injury of nine individuals. The assailant subsequently fled the scene.

Upon receiving the emergency call, police officers stationed in the city’s historic Warehouse District promptly responded around 2:30 a.m.

They provided immediate medical assistance to the victims, who were then transported to a local hospital for treatment, as stated in a Facebook post by Police Sgt. Jennifer Ciaccia.

Police Chief Wayne Drummond reported that seven men and two women, ranging in age from 23 to 38, were wounded in the incident, USA Today reported.

While one person sustained severe injuries, the others suffered minor wounds. Fortunately, no fatalities were reported at the time.

During an afternoon news conference on Sunday, Chief Drummond mentioned that officers had been patrolling the area prior to the incident, but the exact cause of the shooting remains unknown.

Sgt. Ciaccia informed that investigators are diligently reviewing evidence, including video footage, and conducting interviews with the victims in an effort to gather information that may help identify and locate the perpetrator.
