In a series of random shootings across Queens and Brooklyn, a gunman on a scooter tragically killed an 86-year-old man and injured three others, as reported by the police.

The suspect, identified as Thomas Abreu, 25, was apprehended by law enforcement and subsequently charged with murder, attempted murder, and criminal possession of a weapon.

The police recovered a 9mm handgun with an extended magazine as well as the scooter used in the incidents, ABC 7 New York reported.

Acting Police Commissioner Edward Caban stated that officers were provided with an image of the suspect, which aided in their search across Queens.

A critical message was disseminated, ensuring that every NYPD officer on duty received the suspect’s image.

This contributed to the suspect’s recognition and subsequent arrest in Queens shortly after 1 p.m.

Caban expressed gratitude to the NYPD personnel and highlighted the significance of the extended magazine on the 9mm pistol, recognizing the potential harm the suspect was willing to inflict.
