Rishi Sunak has expressed the UK’s disapproval of the use of cluster bombs following the United States’ decision to send them to Ukraine.
President Joe Biden has faced criticism for providing these munitions, which are prohibited by numerous allies due to their history of causing harm and injury to civilians, Sky News reported.
The Prime Minister emphasized that the UK, as one of the 123 countries that signed a convention banning the use of cluster bombs, will continue its focus on supplying tanks and long-range weapons to support the fight against Russia.
The ongoing “act of barbarism” committed by Russia is inflicting immeasurable suffering on millions of people, and it is imperative for the international community to collectively stand against it.
Ahead of the NATO summit, Mr. Sunak is scheduled to meet with President Biden in London on Monday.
