According to reports from both Russia and Ukraine, a highly ranked Russian general was killed in a missile strike by a Storm Shadow missile in an occupied Ukrainian city. Lt. Gen.

Oleg Tsokov lost his life on Monday when a series of cruise missiles obliterated the Dune Hotel in Berdiansk, located in the southern Zaporizhzhia region. The hotel had been serving as a residence for Russian military commanders.

Petro Andriushchenko, an adviser to the Ukrainian mayor of Mariupol, shared the news with apparent satisfaction on his Telegram channel, stating, “It is reported that today in the Berdiansk area, the Russian Lieutenant General Oleg Yuriyovych Tsokov was liquidated.”

Andriushchenko further mentioned that Tsokov had suffered severe injuries in action in September 2022 when he was the commander of Russia’s 144th Motorized Rifle Division, but had managed to survive, the New York Post has reported.

In a somewhat macabre tone, the mayor’s adviser made a dark joke, saying, “Now they say that his mobilization into the grave has been completed.”

Yurii Mysyagin, a member of Ukraine’s parliament, also appeared to express satisfaction at the general’s violent demise, commenting, “The British ‘Storm Shadow’ came to visit accurately.”

Mysyagin referred to the long-range cruise missiles jointly developed by the UK and France, which were supplied to Ukraine in May.
