Ron DeSantis, who launched his 2024 presidential campaign only seven weeks ago, is facing challenges in narrowing the significant lead held by former President Donald Trump in the Republican primary, sources revealed to ABC News.

Concerns are growing among some top donors about the campaign’s direction, prompting DeSantis’s team to consider a potential media strategy reset.

Despite being seen as a strong contender to challenge Trump for the GOP nomination within certain traditional Republican donor circles, DeSantis has struggled to gain ground.

Although he raised an impressive $20 million in fundraising during the second quarter, national polls consistently show him trailing Trump, ABC News reported.

In January, DeSantis was within single digits of Trump in national polls, according to FiveThirtyEight’s average.

However, since officially entering the race in May, his deficit has widened to nearly a 30-point gap behind Trump.
