During the execution of a federal search warrant at the residence of a man from Mount Washington, authorities uncovered a disturbing situation earlier this week.
On July 11, the FBI conducted a search at James William Nott’s residence as part of an investigation into the sale and shipment of stolen human remains through online marketplaces.
Upon arrival at the apartment, an FBI agent questioned Nott about the presence of any other individuals in the home. Nott disturbingly replied, “Only my deceased friends.”
During the search, law enforcement officials made a chilling discovery inside the residence. Numerous human remains, including 40 human skulls, spinal cords, femurs, and hip bones, were found, WHAS 11 reported.
In a court document, an agent described the scene further, noting that the skulls were “arranged as decorations throughout the furniture.”
The document also revealed that one of the skulls was adorned with a head scarf, while another was found resting on the mattress where Nott slept.
The FBI initiated an investigation into James William Nott after uncovering his communication with Jeremy Pauley, a Pennsylvania resident who was also being probed for participating in a nationwide operation involving the illicit purchase and sale of stolen human remains.
Pauley cooperated with federal investigators and provided them with valuable information about a network of individuals involved in the scheme.
One of the individuals implicated was Cedric Lodge, the morgue manager at Harvard Medical School, who was charged with related offenses the previous month.
During the search of Nott’s residence, authorities discovered a bag from Harvard Medical School, further linking him to the investigation.
