According to Australian media reports over the weekend, a stranded sailor and his dog have been successfully rescued in the South Pacific Ocean after spending several months adrift at sea.

The sailor, Tim Shaddock, aged 51, embarked on his journey from La Paz, Mexico, accompanied by his dog, Bella, three months ago.

About a month into the voyage, a powerful storm struck his white catamaran, causing complete destruction of all electronic equipment, as reported by 9News.

Shaddock and Bella managed to survive the subsequent three months at sea by consuming raw fish and collecting rainwater for drinking, NBC News reported.

Over the weekend, they were rescued by a Mexican tuna trawler, as detailed by 9News.

Speaking to the channel, Shaddock described his challenging ordeal at sea. He mentioned that he had essential fishing equipment and other survival gear onboard.

However, he expressed a need for rest and nourishing food after enduring a prolonged period alone at sea. He stated, “I have not had enough food for a long time.”

A doctor who attended to Shaddock on the trawler confirmed to 9News that the sailor displayed “normal vital signs,” indicating that he was in stable condition.
