Vivek Ramaswamy, a biotech entrepreneur and Republican candidate for the presidency, has taken a notable step by releasing a list of 16 individuals he would consider nominating to the U.S. Supreme Court or federal appellate courts if elected.

He becomes the first candidate in the Republican field to itemize his potential judicial appointments.

Ramaswamy’s list includes notable figures such as Senators Ted Cruz of Texas and Mike Lee of Utah as potential nominees for the Supreme Court, the Associated Press reported.

Additionally, he would consider elevating federal judges who have previously invalidated President Joe Biden’s airplane mask mandate and the FDA’s long-standing approval of the abortion pill.

The composition and direction of the Supreme Court have historically been influential issues in presidential campaigns.

In 2016, the prospect of a Republican president appointing a replacement for the late Justice Antonin Scalia played a significant role in securing Donald Trump’s victory, appealing to conservative voters’ desire for a conservative appointment.

By outlining his possible judicial appointments, Ramaswamy aims to offer transparency and clarity regarding his vision for the judiciary, further engaging with voters on this critical aspect of the presidency.
