Last week, NASA announced the commencement of testing humanoid robots in Australia. The focus of these tests will be on evaluating the Valkyrie robot’s capabilities for remote mobile dexterity.

The ultimate goal is to enable these robots to assume caretaking responsibilities for uncrewed offshore energy facilities.

If successful, these robots would take on hazardous tasks that are typically performed by human workers, the Jerusalem Post reported.

The testing of the Valkyrie robot will take place in Perth, which is located quite a distance from NASA’s Space Center in Texas.

This initiative is made possible through a Space Act Agreement established with Woodside Energy. Woodside Energy will be responsible for testing the technology and providing valuable feedback to NASA.

Eventually, NASA hopes that the technology may be used for the Artemis missions and other objectives.
