On Thursday, a federal grand jury tasked with determining whether to indict former President Donald Trump for his actions to overturn the 2020 election is scheduled to convene.

During this session, the grand jury will hear testimony from William Russell, a former White House aide who was in close proximity to Trump on January 6, 2021.

William Russell, now working for Trump’s presidential campaign, is expected to provide crucial information related to the events of that fateful day, NBC News reported.

Special counsel Jack Smith is overseeing the grand jury proceedings, which are focused on investigating the January 6 riot and any attempts to interfere with the lawful transfer of power following the 2020 presidential election.

This isn’t Russell’s first time testifying before the grand jury, having done so previously.

The grand jury has been conducting an extensive investigation, already hearing testimony from numerous witnesses as part of their inquiry into the events surrounding the January 6 incident.

Trump, who recently mentioned receiving a target letter setting a deadline for him to testify before the grand jury, is not anticipated to appear at the federal courthouse in Washington for the current proceedings.

The target letter specified three federal statutes related to deprivation of rights, conspiracy to defraud the U.S., and tampering with a witness, as revealed by attorneys familiar with the document.

It should be noted that Former President Trump is presumed innocent, and he has denied all charges against him.
