Homeowner jailed for spraying passing woman in face with water hose

A homeowner in a Florida golf course community ended up in jail due to a trespassing dispute after he sprayed a passing woman in the face with his garden hose, as reported by the Flagler County Sheriff’s Office.

The incident occurred in an unincorporated area approximately 70 miles northeast of Orlando on Friday, July 21.

Authorities were called to a home in the Plantation Bay Golf & Country Club after the suspect’s wife dialed 911 to complain that the victim had displayed a gun.

However, upon investigating the matter, deputies discovered that it was the homeowner who had escalated the situation, Yahoo News has reported.

He had mistakenly believed the woman was encroaching on his property line, leading him to confront her and use his garden hose against her.

The victim, in an attempt to protect herself, retreated to her vehicle while the man continued to berate her, making her fear a potential attack.

As a precautionary measure, she displayed a firearm for her safety. When the homeowner returned indoors, she holstered the weapon and waited in her vehicle for law enforcement to arrive.

The investigation later confirmed that the woman had not trespassed onto the man’s property. The homeowner had further exacerbated the dispute by aggressively following her to her vehicle.

As a result of his actions, the 62-year-old property owner was arrested and charged with simple battery, considered a misdemeanor offense.

He was taken to Advent Health for medical clearance and then transferred to the Sheriff Perry Hall Inmate Detention Facility without any issues. Eventually, he was released from jail.
