Today, a significant development emerged in the ongoing investigation led by special counsel Jack Smith, regarding former President Trump and a top aide.

A new indictment was filed, bringing forth additional charges against the former president for his actions concerning classified documents following his tenure in the White House.

This superseding indictment also includes charges against Carlos De Oliveira, a maintenance worker at Mar-a-Lago, who allegedly assisted in the transportation of boxes containing classified materials.

Just last week, Trump disclosed that he had received a letter informing him that he is the subject of a grand jury inquiry pertaining to the January 6th riot and attempts to overturn the 2020 election.

This separate investigation is also overseen by special counsel Jack Smith, NBC News has reported.

Interestingly, members of the grand jury involved in the January 6th investigation were observed at the courthouse today.

However, it was later clarified by a court official that no indictments had been returned on this day, nor were any expected.

The members of the grand jury were seen leaving the courthouse around 4:30 p.m., leaving the public awaiting further developments in these high-profile cases.
