Biden Wanted Facebook to ‘Change the Algorithm,’ Boost New York Times Content over Right-Wing Media

The House Judiciary Committee, led by Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH), has obtained new materials that shed light on the Biden White House’s efforts to influence Facebook, with requests for algorithm changes to prioritize its preferred media sources for users.

Dubbed “The Facebook Files” by Rep. Jordan, the recent disclosures reveal exchanges where Biden White House digital strategy director Rob Flaherty suggested modifying Facebook’s algorithm to elevate corporate establishment media like The New York Times while demoting competitors such as Tomi Lahren and the Daily Wire.

Flaherty raised the question of whether such algorithm adjustments would have a significant impact on user engagement, Breitbart News has reported.

These documents form part of Rep. Jordan’s ongoing efforts to reveal communications between Facebook and the Biden administration, which were only obtained after considerable pressure was exerted on the tech company by the Judiciary Committee.

This pressure included a threat to hold Facebook’s CEO, Mark Zuckerberg, in contempt of Congress.
