Democratic Senator Dianne Feinstein of California experienced a brief hospitalization on Tuesday after a fall, as reported by a spokesperson.
This incident adds to a series of health challenges faced by the oldest member of the US Senate.
The spokesperson released a statement confirming that Senator Feinstein had gone to the hospital as a precautionary measure following a minor fall at her home, CNN reported.
The statement assured that all scans performed were clear, and she was subsequently discharged and returned home.
The news of Feinstein’s fall was initially reported by TMZ.
Over the past year, concerns about the health of the 90-year-old senator have grown. She was previously hospitalized for shingles in February, which resulted in an extended period of absence from the Senate.
Upon her return in May, her office revealed that her recovery had been complicated by Ramsay Hunt syndrome and encephalitis.
While the encephalitis had resolved itself shortly after her release from the hospital in March, complications from Ramsay Hunt syndrome persisted, according to a statement made by a spokesperson to CNN.
