A recent investigation has determined that, contrary to his previous claims, Alec Baldwin was indeed the one who discharged the firearm on the set of “Rust” in October 2021.
This tragic incident resulted in the loss of Halyna Hutchins’ life and triggered a prolonged legal dispute as authorities strive to bring justice to the cinematographer.
In anticipation of her upcoming trial scheduled for December, the film’s armorer, Hannah Gutierrez-Reed, and her legal team are placing significant emphasis on a fresh report provided by independent forensic firearm specialists.
Lucien Haag and Mike Haag, who were engaged by the prosecution, have reached the conclusion that Baldwin was responsible for pulling the trigger of the gun, leading to its discharge, Fox News reported.
“Although Alec Baldwin repeatedly denies pulling the trigger, given the tests, findings and observations reported here, the trigger had to be pulled or depressed sufficiently to release the fully cocked or retracted hammer of the evidence revolver,” the report, obtained by Fox News Digital, read.
“This fatal incident was the consequence of the hammer being manually retracted to its fully rearward and cocked position followed, at some point, by the pull or rearward depression of the trigger.”
In April, special prosecutors dropped the charges of involuntary manslaughter against Baldwin. However, in a filing dated June 9, they indicated that they would reinstate the charges if the revolver had not undergone any modifications.
