On Tuesday, Iran’s Defense Ministry introduced a drone that bears a striking resemblance to the armed MQ-9 Reaper used by the United States.
The authorities claim that this aircraft, named the Mohajer-10, boasts an impressive 24-hour flight endurance and possesses the capability to reach Israel, Iran’s longstanding adversary, the Associated Press reported.
The state-operated IRNA news agency of Iran unveiled an image of the Mohajer-10 drone showcased at a conference commemorating Defense Industry Day, with what appeared to be a haze of smoke-machine fog enveloping it.
The term “Mohajer” translates to “immigrant” in Farsi and designates a line of drones that the Islamic Republic has been manufacturing since 1985.
IRNA reported that the drone can achieve altitudes of up to 24,000 feet while cruising at a speed of 210 kph (130 mph).
Additionally, it can transport a bomb payload weighing up to 300 kilograms (660 pounds). The drone is also said to have the capacity to carry electronic surveillance equipment and a camera.
Iran’s steadfast President Ebrahim Raisi, who enjoys the support of Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, also had the opportunity to inspect the drone on Tuesday.
