On Thursday, Ukraine executed a bold operation within Russian-occupied Crimea, as confirmed by its military intelligence, coinciding with Kyiv’s commemoration of the anniversary of its independence from the Soviet Union in 1991.
According to reports from the Ukrainian outlet Krym Realii, there were explosions and an exchange of gunfire in Crimea during the early hours of the day.
The source of the information was individuals within the occupied territory, Politico reported.
Ukrainian forces, arriving by sea, clashed with Russian occupants, resulting in casualties and damage to equipment, as stated by military intelligence.
While the local authorities installed by Russia in Crimea, who have maintained control over the peninsula since 2014, have yet to release any official statements, Ukraine has asserted that its units engaged in a confrontation along the shoreline in proximity to the Olenivka and Mayak villages.
