In downtown Louisville, Kentucky, a shooting that took place overnight has resulted in the loss of two lives and injuries to five others, as reported by the police.

Around 3 a.m., the Louisville Metro Police Department responded to a shooting outside the Southern Restaurant & Lounge following a call.

According to Deputy Chief Steve Healey of LMPD, the initial victim, an adult man, was pronounced deceased at the scene. Another adult man succumbed to his injuries at the hospital, the police confirmed.

The five individuals who sustained injuries are currently in the process of recuperating at local medical facilities, CNN reported.

Among them, four seem to have wounds that are not life-threatening, while the condition of the fifth victim remains uncertain, as stated by Healey.

A thorough investigation into the incident as a homicide is ongoing. The police hold the belief that the suspect or suspects were not engaging in random acts of shooting people, according to Healey’s statement.
