Georgia Republicans divided amidst calls to impeach Fulton DA over Trump indictment

The Georgia General Assembly remains divided on the course of action to be taken following the indictment of former President Donald Trump.

After the former president’s brief presence at the Fulton County Jail for his arrest booking procedures, various GOP members have initiated discussions regarding potential measures against District Attorney Fani Willis, who is responsible for the indictment.

Georgia Senator Colton Moore spearheaded an effort by writing a letter to Governor Brian Kemp, urging him to convene a special legislative session for the purpose of impeaching Willis, WSB-TV reported.

In contrast, House Speaker Jon Burns is less enthusiastic about such a move, as indicated in a letter he addressed to fellow lawmakers on Wednesday.

On a separate note, the members of the U.S. House GOP have decided to initiate their own investigation into Willis, prompted by the indictment of the former president.
