Security guard, customer die after exchanging gunfire at Indianapolis store

On Wednesday, a fatal incident unfolded at an Indianapolis home improvement store where a security guard and a customer engaged in gunfire, resulting in the death of both individuals, according to police.

The two men were pronounced dead at nearby hospitals after the shooting transpired around 5:30 p.m. at a Menards store situated on the city’s northeast side.

Captain Don Weilhammer of the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department confirmed the situation.

“It does appear that they were shooting at each other,” Weilhammer said. “Unfortunately, now another life has been lost because people don’t want to resolve conflict without resorting to violence like this.”

At present, the exact circumstances that led to the shooting remain unclear. The incident took place near the exit of the store’s lumber yard, as reported by local news sources.
