In a bid to prevent potential store closures resulting from a notably high rate of theft, a Giant grocery store located in Washington D.C. is taking action to remove well-known brands like Advil, Colgate, and Tide from its shelves.
The grocery chain has already implemented substantial security enhancements. Additionally, shoppers at Giant will now be obliged to present their receipts before exiting the store, as reported by the Washington Post.
Giant’s President, Ira Kress, emphasized their commitment to serving the community while acknowledging the necessity of reducing significant losses and risks to their associates.
“We want to continue to be able to serve the community, but we can’t do so at the level of significant loss or risk to our associates that we have today,” Giant president Ira Kress told the Post, Fox News reported.
In May, Giant implemented extensive alterations to their stores, which included heightening security measures, reducing the number of entrances, and securing certain products.
