On Monday, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz posted a playful image of himself on Twitter, embracing a pirate-esque persona with a black eye patch and crimson bruises adorning the right side of his face, the aftermath of a weekend jogging mishap.

In his caption, the chancellor jovially anticipated the flood of memes this photo would likely inspire, exclaiming, “Am excited to see the memes.”

In a bid to alleviate any potential concerns about his well-being, Scholz, seen in the photograph, seemingly taken at the chancellery, maintained a subtle smile and added the reassuring words, “Thanks for the well wishes, it looks worse than it is!”

Scholz experienced a fall during his Saturday jog, resulting in facial bruises that necessitated the cancellation of some weekend appointments, as announced by the government, the Associated Press reported.

His spokesperson reassured the press in Berlin on Monday that, given the circumstances, the chancellor was in good condition.
