The ongoing strikes by actors and writers are causing a significant downturn in the talent pool in Hollywood.
In August, the film, television, and music sectors collectively saw a decline of 17,000 jobs, a decline attributed to the ongoing strike actions, as reported by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics on Friday.
In contrast, the U.S. economy managed to add 187,000 jobs during the same month, driven by growth in industries such as healthcare, leisure, and construction, surpassing the anticipated 170,000 job increase projected by Dow Jones, CNBC reported.
These job losses within the motion picture and sound recording industries serve as a clear indication of the impact of the strikes initiated by the Writers Guild of America and SAG-AFTRA in May and mid-July, respectively.
Over the past few months, several notable film and television productions have either been halted prematurely or wrapped up sooner than expected.
