Between September 6 and September 12, NASA’s Asteroid Watch dashboard reports that Earth will witness the passage of five asteroids, with one resembling the size of a house and two comparable in size to airplanes.
The first of these, the house-sized asteroid named JA5, will approach Earth on September 6, coming within a distance of approximately 3.17 million miles. This asteroid, measuring about 59 feet in diameter, was initially spotted in 2021.
On September 8, two asteroids will make their journey past our planet. The first, known as QC5, shares a likeness to an airplane and boasts a size of roughly 79 feet, CBS News reported.
The second, called GE, is about the size of a bus, measuring at approximately 26 feet. QC5 was first detected in 2023 and will pass within approximately 2.53 million miles of Earth, while GE was first observed in 2020 and will come as close as 3,560,000 miles to our planet.
Another airplane-sized asteroid, QF6, discovered in 2023 and measuring around 68 feet in diameter, will make its approach on September 10, passing at a distance of approximately 1.65 million miles from Earth.
The final anticipated asteroid, resembling the size of a bus and flying past Earth on September 12, is named RT2.
Measuring about 25 feet in diameter, RT2 was initially discovered in 2020 and will be at a distance of approximately 2,620,000 miles from Earth this week.
