Elon Musk blames the ADL for 60% ad sales decline at X, threatens to sue

Elon Musk, the owner of X, is issuing a defamation threat against the Anti-Defamation League (ADL), alleging that the nonprofit organization’s remarks regarding the escalation of hate speech on the social media platform have severely harmed X’s advertising income.

In a post on X, which was formerly known as Twitter, Musk asserted that U.S. advertising revenue has declined by 60%, primarily attributing this decline to the influence of @ADL (as reported by advertisers).

Musk went on to suggest that the ADL nearly succeeded in undermining X/Twitter, CNN reported.

Furthermore, Musk contended that since he assumed control of the platform in October 2022, the ADL has been actively attempting to undermine the platform by falsely accusing both it and himself of promoting anti-Semitic content.

“To clear our platform’s name on the matter of anti-Semitism, it looks like we have no choice but to file a defamation lawsuit against the Anti-Defamation League … oh the irony!” he said.

As a matter of policy, the ADL has stated that it refrains from making any comments regarding legal threats.
